Cross breeding?

That's most likely because yellow down develops into white feathers, I think... I think that's what I read...

Chicks - all dark colored. Females have gold cheeks, males have silver cheeks (chick second from the left is a purebred Buff Orpington).

I don't have any pics of mature roos (got rid of them when they were babies). But, they'll mature to be variations of barred. Many of them will be barred, but with a lot of white. We have a couple of chicks that are crosses with a Silver Spangled Hamburg roo and Barred Rock hen.......they are mean and aggressive birds like their dad. Gonna say bye-bye to them and the roo!

However, we just hatched these 5 cuties: Ameraucana roo X Marans hen (shipped eggs)=olive eggers at 100% hatch rate.
