cross breeding .

I saw something on ebay awhile back. was a frizzled ameraucana is what they called it. looked like a easter egger that someone took a hair drier too.

I am sure the crosses would be pretty.
If you want to work with something though plan out what you want and go from there.
If you just want a neat looking chicken then it sounds like you just hatched some...

Hi Willyfrank,
Sounds like you have a concept and a start on it. I've found the chicken world to be very descriptive in their titling of birds. I think it might be because there are so many different types of colors and feathering. Much more than in the dog world, smile. Probably in the beginning, best to be as descriptive as possible. Esp. since someone else may be working with the same cross and you want yours to stand apart from the crowd. Perhaps including both your new breed name and their heritage in your description of them. For instance, " American Curly, founded on an Ameraucana/Frizzle cross". That way people associate your new breed name with the foundation. Plus, if you are first out the gate with this terminology, it's good PR for your project.
As your project continues and becomes more generally well-known, in several years you can drop the Ameraucana/Frizzle part and test the waters to see if folk have mentally cemented the two descriptions of your project . If not, ( and folks keep asking you about the lineage behind your "breed name") just start using it again until they remember. Nothing wrong with using both descriptive terms to describe your project.
Best Success,

SO CUTE! so what are you gonna call them?

the AM must be an EE because the legs would be greenish in color on the chick. the frizzle roo is probably a cochin due to the feathered legs. chicks cute though. wish my 2 "ameraucana" (they are ee's sold as ameraucana from a local breeder of "ameraucana") had that coloring the one that did something took it through the fencing. we have people selling "ameraucana" around here that they got from a hatchery, in which case they are acutlly ee's. any ameraucana gotten from a hatchery is an EE i have yet to see any true ameraucana from a hatchery. i got the EE chicks because they were cute and i wanted colored eggs (other than white and cream). I'm thinking of throwing them in with the silkie roo just for fun and then breeding those pullets back to the silkie roo. i have plenty of cockerels to choose from to put them under and can't wait till they start to lay next year.
