Hey Chicken Pals,

I have a hound dog who has developed sores on her lip and nose. Also, a lack of appetite which is out of character.

I have to think it is because of the introduction of our chickens into the backyard.

Does anyone have any thoughts on whether this is chicken-related? I've used de-wormers on both chickens and dogs.

Should I give another dose? Maybe not let the chickens be free-range?

HELP!

Hi and welcome to BYC. I would take the dog to the vet. My 6 dogs and 2 cats hang out with my hundreds of free ranging chickens, ducks, and peacocks and no one has ever developed sores on nose or lips or loss of appetite. I'm not sure what those are symptoms of but I don't think it is chicken related. My dogs especially eat the chicken poop and drink from the common waterers and sleep with the chickens and have never gotten ill from them.
