Just had to loan money to a friend because she has $1.53 to her name. The government shutdown has caused social security retirement checks not to be deposited and she has no gas in her car or food for herself or her cat. She managed to eek $30 out for 10 days. Horrid.

I'm having the same fear only I have to wait and see if disability checks are the same as SS. My birthdate is the 21st. So I have to wait til the 23rd to see if I will get paid. We all have bills to pay and checks to count on. Even if we don't work. I don't think I'll get anyone to try cat food at my house. ;-)
