Hey I put a post in "why arent my chickens laying" but no repky so thought I would ask you guys. My 7 hens have just stopped laying completely hhad nothing for nearly 2 weeks yes its cold here and days are shorter but I should still be getting something shouldnt I???Pleeeeeease help

Did the weather change suddenly? My chooks stopped for about 2 weeks when our weather got humid. From what I see on here where people actually have a winter the laying goes down dramatically. Maybe your girls just need some time to adjust.

Are they molting? Some breeds are only good for a yr +/- My Silkies havn't laid in a 1 1/2 months and she had just started and layed for only 1 month. My Cochins didn't lay for 2 1/2 months once they got here.. Then only one started laying and the other stayed low for another month until she decieded to get going. It's hard to say what makes them I broke a Cochim that was broody for a few weeks. I left her go into a kennel w/o a nesting box for 3 days and I would bring her back to her gang and by the 3rd day she was coming out and staying out and hasn't been back in there since! But now I want to know. When I do want a hen to go broody for me. Is there a way to get her to go broody on demand! lol

Haha I think I have the best cat ever!
I had chickens in chicken ICU (the bathroom) last night due to impacted crops. Told my brother to keep the door shut and use the other bathroom. Well little bro was watching a football game last night and must of had a few too many as I woke up to house left completely open, lights on and bathroom door open! Found the chickens in the lounge room with my cat lounging about 2 meters away! Not our cat killer is know to murder anything that moves so I was super impressed !
But unfortunately for me the house is now covered in poop! The impacted crops seem to be going well, certainly no problem with the bottom end!

When my Cochin went broody, well when she would get off the nest and defecate WOW! There was more there than my small dog does after a night of sleeping! And I had to pick that up

You could see that they really hold on to what they have to do. OMG there was a lot of $hit there!

Hi everyone!

Just came home from a week working in the big city.

Changed my coop today and very happy my girls are back to laying eggs again!
