Cross Continental Friends!!!

im sure the exorcism is funny to watch.

today i went to the fruit market. i went with 64 dollars and left with 16 dollars. i bought at least 10 to 15 pounds of green bananas that cost 57 cents a pound. i bought 18 dollars worth. i bought 10 pounds of yautias but i am not sure how much they were a pound, but it cost me 20 dollars. and then i bought 17 plantains and in total those cost me 10 dollars. i took pictures of everything that i bought. i wanted to take pictures of the fruit market but i did not do that because there were to many people.

now if only i had brought a box with me to put everything in...

all of that is going to be grounded up into masa to make pasteles with.

they also had a lot of other veggies and fruits like egg plant, sweet potato, other types of root veggies like the yatia, cilantro, pumpkin, pineapple, bitter oranges, bananas, mangoes and a bunch of other fruits that i have never seen before. i did only go to one stand but i think there were three other stands that were selling stuff too. at one point the lady was a little annoyed that i was making her work so much =]

the yatia is textured similar to a potato but the taste is not like a potato i guess it is like how you described it to be. the one here is not spicy or bitter though. i do not like it plain, i usually will cook it with the sauce and beans, but on the island it is typically eaten with bacalao a salted fish. and they also mix it into the masa for pasteles or they will cook it in soups and stews.
