I really have a thing for Viggo Mortensen, Lordy be, and hence love Hildago. I am particularly fond of The Man From Snowy River, Tom Burlinson is in that one, sigh.
Have you ever heard of cowboy poker? There is a rodeo game that only ends in tears. They get a group of volunteers to sit around one of those folding card tables like granny has and play poker. At the same time one of the rodeo bulls is let loose in the ring. The last volunteer to leave their seat wins a money prize. Last time I saw cowboy poker they had to delay the rodeo after because the insurance says they have to have an ambulance on site and the victims of the poker game had used up all the ambulances in town. They had to send for more ambulances from out of town that night, they needed 7 in total and the town only had two.
This was not your typical rodeo.
I do like mutton busting (kids riding a sheep for as long as they can) and I get a thrill out of broncs, but some of the rest if the events leave me flat. Team sorting is usually a yawn to watch though an actual needed skill in a ranch and it is something i could have done when i could still ride. why girls only do breakaway goat roping confuses me as they could head or heel a steer as well as a guy.
I also love a good mule race, our neighbor had a racing mule. And I also love wild horse races, even though it is clear the horse doesn't love it.
I went to a real kill the bull type bull fight in mazatlan in February and after a tough start for me emotionally found it invigorating. Horrible of me but it's true.

Looking forward to a day or two off, at least from the paying job...

I had not heard of cowboy poker, except that I saw it on some reality show recently (the one with the kids in WV). Looked pretty funny.

Here in NC rodeos, girls do it all. I do a lot of team roping - the horse I am riding in the green-hat picture is my head horse - and there are a few other women and girls who rope regularly on my circuit. Lots of younger girls prefer to barrel race, so when they have to choose, they will choose to have a barrel horse, and barrel horses can't rope, so I think if there was no barrel racing you'd have a lot more girls roping.

It was 98/37 degrees at the house yesterday! No wonder I was warm! A bit early in the year for that temperature but it makes the tomatoes grow. I am worried about the rest of the summer now. Last year it froze in June, which is also a bit odd.
Busy day today cleaning pens and planting some flowers. I also got a sweet potato vine, strictly ornamental, for a hanging pot outside the back door.
400

I actually didn't buy it at work, shame on me, but got it at the grocery store of all places.
Hope everyone has/had a good day!

hommiseria,

the movie's list become every hour longer, for one who sleeps 4 hours at night, sooooooooo long

unluckily, I've quitted with cinema some years ago, because it's always a zzzzzzzzzzz problem, especially with cryscrappers ones, at Avatar's the crew threw me out

I'm gonna make some dinner, if I'm not sleeping on the kitchen

James Cameron's Avatar? And maybe I am just stupid but there is another word I can't find the translation for--hommiseria?
