Oh, she's so cute! I wish I could of had Cooper so small! Being a boy, he was a bit bigger! I envy you lol of your life w/ the goats, bunnies (not) and such.

At your age and younger, if I had a pet it had to be when I lived full time or in the 7-8 months that we lived in Errol. No pets in Berlin, I remember a puppy but only one day, he was chasing me on my tricycle in the living room. After that we never had him. When I was 7 we moved to Errol and I could have pets but only outdoors. When I was 12 we moved back to Berlin for winters and I had to travel back & forth for school the few months that we were living up there that was not summer vacation. So the point of this is. He would kill my pets when we had to move to Berlin suz my mother way pertified of aminals. I never forgave him for that. He was an abrusive drunkard man that thought women were for housework and had to do what he wanted. I can't remember haw many pair of glasses I had to have fixed or new because of him! I was so worried I would marry that kind of man. He loved the guys who would sit w/ him and drink his home brew, before we would leave. DD did not so my dad hated him and in French would say, take the ******* ***** if you think you can do better of taking care of her than me!I'm sorry I vented to you. Now you see why I want you to go out and venture the world to a point. Remember your upbringing but don't be afraid to look at things that life brings you. Which kids do now, girls were not offered what they do to you now! Shut up Nancy!

NO, RIR's are aggressive! I wish I would of knew more about chickens back then. On Craig's List, He was offering the reds so I looked them up and they were good layers. That they are, very day I get 2 brown large eggs from the 2 of them. Henny Penny & Rhoda. But they have not problem pushing & nipping their way to the top! He had some Brahma's and I kick myself every time they hurt my girls. I had 6 Americana's at that time giving me beautiful green/blue eggs! I have only one now who doesn't mind being carried arnd to places. I can pick them up but I have to hold them.

Bill I love your chickens, I've never seen any where I live. I think I would enjoy seeing some.
Megan, this is Cooper on his ride home! As he ages, his fur has darkened
His 1st ride home. He was found walking a country road in Maine and was brought to a Humane soc.

Bill:
You like all of the breeds of chickens that scare me! I like the boring old fluffy hens who talk to themselves and putter gently around the yard. You like those scary ones that look like they are able to peck my leg off! The type of game birds you have mentioned in the past are similar to the ones the local Hmong population keep for both fighting and eating. They look like this:

I fail to see the allure. Enlighten me!

Karen
(who may be a boring old fluffy hen herself....)

I'm with Karen, we don't tend to see your type of chicken's in backyards other than for fighting. So as I said a posting back, share with us, teach us something!!!

Bill, Bill, Billbillbill!!!
Are your rabbits New Zealand's? Or satins? Or mutts? Those gray ones have a great shine. Do let me know as I want to compare breeding notes and styles (age at first breeding of a doe, supplemental feedi g, weaning age, etc.).
Livornas? Have a photo?

don't think of me as a cockfight lover, I absolutely don't like cruelty to animals

probably, you don't know enough about these breeds, they are so gentle with the farmer and don't try to attack when you turn your back, like many others do

I've just slaughtered some rabbits to get some cages empty, I've gone at "the house" of the black stag you saw, he doesn't gone mad at all, he look at me and quietly wait until I finish, when the lights turn off, he calls his girls at home and wait until I've closed the pen

if I've tried with one of the other roosters, they make a mess for sure

I like their proud, even their aspect, I love them when the rooster call his little chicks to eat, the devotion of the hens when brood, they are capable to adopt even a kitty

the girls are terrible, introducing another one is more difficult, if you haven't the right boos, who separates them and stop the fight

you just don't have to quickly introduce another rooster as a menace, sometimes, Pecorino try to steal one hen, so they fix each other for some time, moving beak to beak as a dance, usually, the old rascal runs back to his girlfriend, without a single still of blood

at the end, they catches mice better than the cats!
