crossed beaks! whats the deal??

I just got 30 ameraucanas last week. They were all great when I got them as day olds. Now a significant number of them are developing crossed beaks. What is going on?? Did I do something wrong? what is causing this? Is it genetic? How can I stop it? Help please!

I want to be sure it's not something contagious. Im about to put 25 more chicks in with them....

By the way, I got them from one of the most reputable breeders in the country, not some random hatchery. Should I complain to the breeder?
