Hi everyone,

i have a beautiful black brahma hen and lavender orpington rooster. what chicks will they produce?

my goal is to produce lavender Brahma as my only lavender brahma died last year. I know that it will take generations but can i cross this two breeds considering that their combs and shanks are totally opposite? Has anyone tried crossing this 2 breeds?

thank you for your answers.

Genetics is a mystery to me. You should post this on the "Exhibition, Genetics & Breeding" forum thread. I'm sure someone with lots more brains and understanding will help you there! Sounds interesting!

You'll get black offspring that carry one lavendar gene. But it takes two to express it. If you get lavendar chicks in the first gen the your black brahma hen carries a lav gene. You'll get modified pea combs and varying degrees of leg feathering.
