Crossing my Red Ranger Hens.

I am looking for that color but in the jumbo size.... more like white Plymouth rock with necked necks

I am definitely going for that too. But I want to introduce the naked neck gene into my production lines of egg birds. I really believe that less feathers allows for proteins and other nutrients to towards egg or meat production and thus its a very efficient trait for both meat and eggs production

Interesting :goodpost:

@Morrigan You could put the cockerel's in one of those large wire dog crates that can fold up when not in use. That's what I do. That type of crate is very useful as a separate grow-out pen for youngster's, or you can use them for a broody jail also.
I might just do this. Thanks for the suggestion.

LOL, aren't you?

Sometime's. I do like having a backup one, just in case I need it. Both of mine are the still air styrofoam one's that can hold 42 egg's. I like the Little Giant one the best, so the Farmer's one's is usually stored in the box that it came in. It's there if I need it, or if I have more than 42 egg's to do. ;)

Your welcome! Broody jail, or rooster separation's, they work! One of mine that I have, I cut pieces of the 1/2" hardware cloth wire to run about a foot up from the bottom and attached it to the cage, cutting out pieces to fit over the 2 doors. That way it can still be folded back up. It work's perfect for a little grow-out pen for the chick's out there when I move them outside. It keep's the chick's in, and the adult's get to look but don't touch.

I love the giant styrofoam incubators, I have a hovabator. I read where Some of the Farm Innovator ones are kinda crappy. Or maybe it was just one model. I have been seeing them all over for about half the price of all the other 42 egg incubators. But other than that one specific model I see good reviews for them. The few bad reviews on these types of incubators outside of the one model seem to be by people who do not know how to hatch. I know my first hatches were disasters but I knew it was me being impatient and not the incubator itself.

I currently only have 2 incubators on

ok not s great pic but the only one I can find.... this is my cabinet bator circa 1934.... and my brinsea has eggs in it

I discovered some good news, my Naked Neck is recessive white from the most recent Naked neck hatch. No white feathers come out in the red ones, no other color but white in all the white ones. If it was Dominant white White feathers would show up in the red offspring and since its Recessive white no other color comes up when a chicken is white. Being Recessive White its easier to manage when creating a new sustainable meat bird with any color of bird you cross with.
