Here it is a little after one in the afternoon and my chickens and ducklings are raising all sorts of commotion. I head outside (armed of course) and look everywhere...notta. Then I hear this very ticked off crow so I look up and a redtail is circling my run. The hawk was busy trying to concentrate on a possible chicken delicacy and this crow was yelling and slamming into him. finally the hawk decided a rabbit or mouse somewhere else would be a better meal.

And my husband asks why I leave food for the crows...he now has been convinced that feeding those annoying crows has a benefit.

Yup. We feed the wild birds- the crows, jays, and red-winged black birds are great "natural" ariel predator alarms, the early warning is worth the $9.00 sack of birdseed

I heard that would happen from someone, and I thought she was nuts for feeding them... WOW... so it works!? I'm gonna give it a try

Oh yeah Jess feed em gal...and feed them in the general area of your coop and run...they will not hurt the chickens (they will steal chicks if they get the chance). In fact a couple got their butts kicked by my rooster and one of my hens before i covered the run. LOL But they chase the hawks away from the area.

Yes make friends with the good birds.
