I had a Hen and a Rooster both born around Thanksgiving so the Roo just started crowing this spring. I found a home for him at a farm in CT. because I have another Roo coming up that I want to keep. So instead of silence in the morning I heard a Rooster sound and looked out my window and low and behold the hen is crowing like a rooster! I hope she doesn't disrupt her laying. Maybe when the new Roo comes of age she will step down?

i've heard so many stories about crowing hens here on BYC. i'm pretty sure she will step down once there is a mature roo around. she is just taking the role of the dominant bird and taking her job seriously [IMG]
