What does it mean when a hen starts crowing and acting like a rooster?
Shes not a rooster, shes over a year old and raised one clutch of chicks to adult status. Ive actually seen the eggs come out of her *ahem*, so I know 100% that she is a hen.
But yesterday she started acting all rooster like (challenging me for dominance, clucking about food, rooster body language stuff like that). Now today, shes crowing just like her boyfriend. The rooster is very confused. Whats going on?
She's the only hen I've known to scare off a raccoon and live to cluck about it. The roo, is more a lover than a fighter. Is there some sort of predator problem?
Other than telling me to stock up my earth quake kit, what could my hen be telling me?
