crowing in the morning

I know this must be a big question- is there any way to prevent a rooster from crowing in the morning? I don't mind it and neither does my mom (We can't even hear him if the windows are shut) but my dad has always wanted to eat Poachy (my rooster) when he gets older and he's taking this as his chance to make an excuse for killing him!

Any way to save my little rooster other than fighting with my dad?

I have noticed with my very vocal rooster that when I "tuck him in" to his coop at night and put a blanket over the coop. (which only works if it's not too hot) he will wait till I take the blanket off in the morning to crow. Then he crows 10 times... (every time it's 10 times... don't know why) weirdo...
