Ended Crowing Rooster Photo Contest

I am so sorry 😞 😔 I lost my speckled Sussex because of them to I loved her Color and even though I only had her for a week also I loved her
I think it should be a crime to sell someone sick birds… but these people who sell them just pass the blame instead of taking responsibility… these chicks that took my Houdini and Audrey also took half my flock… this time last year I was dealing with 3.. yes that’s right 3 different illnesses from 4 chicks… I watched helplessly as one by one I lost rare breed after rare breed… even lost my sons 6week old jap bantam chicks that he had since they were day olds… and these ppl who sell sick birds get away with it while we all fall apart and blame ourselves and wonder what we could have done differently in order to save our beautiful babies lives … 😢😢
Sorry still quite raw on this topic I lost 2 silver spangled Hamburgs last week coz they had what I can only discribe as rickets.. I bought 4 on the Friday… by Saturday 2 could hardly stand .. by Monday 1 had died with her sister following on the Wednesday… the other 2 are perfectly healthy.. and the seller… ignored my messages and then blocked me when I asked for a partial refund…

It's horrible. I just don't understand it, how can some people be so uncaring? So sorry for your loss. 😔

I'm very sorry!
I never bring adults into my flock, although I started out with adults.
I've read that often the seller may not know they have disease in their flock. The chickens may not show any indication until they become stressed from the move.
Quarantine if you buy adults, and be careful to wash up, change your clothes and shoes when you go between groups. I'm too lazy for all that, so I just buy chicks. Buy only from a reputable breeder.

Jeez I am so sorry the person I bought these from swears they were healthy when they left but I know they weren't she gave me tylan when I told her they were sick and a refund when they passed. I should have known not to get them when she let my dad see them the week before and then when we came to get them them we can't see the place they were housed "because of avian flu concern" then she went and grabbed them and the roo was spitting up clear Fluid she said because of stress and then we got home did everything we could and a week later we lost three birds

I wish I would have known this when I bought them I was new at the time and didn't think to quarantine them I even got 2 roos not thinking about fighting or any of that. Of course they didn't go at it cuz the BCM was sick and just laying there. I know ONLY buy chicks from hatcheries or hatch eggs that way I know how they were raised and taken care of. I could have just lossed those 2 if I would have quarantined at least I know better now

Don't beat yourself up. We all make mistakes. Just pass your knowledge on.
