Crowing Roosters "WHY "??????

Mine also crow during the night. Luckily it's music to my ears. The noise that does bother me is my alarm clock!! I would much rather hear the roosters.

oh my! 3am?! Probably being protective/warning call

Mine start at 6am...I used to sleep w/ the fan on so I didn't have to hear them; i have 4! Who start and go all together/one after the other - but I've gotten used to it. The only other times clucky (my pet dog-rooster) crows is when he misses us / can't find us/ gets lost. The other ones are pretty random. But luckily nothing from around 9pm till 6am!

I don't think I've ever heard either of our roosters crow in the middle of the night. They're in the coop though, so maybe they are and I just don't hear it.

Mine are in the coop too. The one that does it is really loud and the coop is pretty close to my house. He wakes me up during the night. The coop is close to my house because of all the big predators. We have lots of coyotes and bobcats around here and my dog helps keep an eye out for them too. Her doghouse is right up against the coop where she can watch what goes on. She is real protective of the chickens.

Midnight maybe and 3 a.m.-ish is when mine would crow...and if a distanct neighbor's crowed, everyone's would start...mine started a few rounds, I'm sure, lol.

Never tried it but I wonder if they still crow if it's pitch black? Maybe black-out shades overnight would work, lol.
