Good afternoon everyone. I have raised quail for quite a few years now, and raise them for eggs, meat, and chicks. My latest batch is 9 weeks old, the males dont crow and no eggs yet. They are on 24 percent gamebird with ground fish pellets for extra protein. Is it from the delayed light with winter? All the others I've raised crowed and laid around 6 weeks old. Just a bit confused as to why these are different than my others. Thank you.

Try adding a light source. A couple cheap daylight LED bulbs are keeping my chickens laying very well. I would imagine it would work for quail too.

I moved all the cages and birds into my garage. I have them on shelving and placed a shop light over the center of the cage placement, lights up the entire area. Hopefully this helps. .

When I had quail before I used led rope light around the top of the pens on a timer come on at 4 in the morning and go off at 8am. That way they could go to bed with sun. Worked well the only problem was getting frozen eggs if I didn't keep a close eye on them laying.

I got nothing, no crowing no laying, winter sucks. Lol. I think they will start again soon, my hens are starting to squat again! (My hens as in my chickens) so I think everyone is gearing up for it! Yay!
