Last night my rooster started crowing around 11:00pm. I checked to make sure everything was quiet and safe, all the hens were asleep, and there didn't look like there was anything outside that would be bothering them. Does anyone know why he would do this? he's about 9 months old. And we don't have a heat lamp, or any light in their coop.

Something woke him up, could have been a dog bark, a mouse or predator passing by. Since he can't see, he calls out a warning to proclaim that he is aware and so his hens are aware. He will stay awake for a little bit until he feels things are ok. It's normal but always good to check whats up.
