crows least...

Ok, let me ask. Do you currently have a rooster?
If not, will your future rooster be near any light at night?
If not, there would not be crowing at night.
If yes, I would recommend a Serama, their crow is as tiny as they are.
If you want a standard and it is exposed to light at night, you may have loud crowing.

He is fully grown.
If you are wanting a large fowl you may want to consider covering the windows at night or do they stay out all night?

If the rooster is secured in the coop and light cannot enter the coop (hence waking the roo and having him announce to the world that he saw light), then you should be fine. There are a few BYCers who bring their roos in at night just to be safe. Chickens are very light sensitive and generally sleep if it is dark and wake up if it is light.

However, some roos are quieter in general than other breeds. If you want a standard-sized chicken, I have heard that Faverolles, Jersey Giants and Buckeyes are
. With that being said, Roos in general are loud. If the night time is all you are worried about, keep it dark and and predator-proof and you should have a sleeping roo.
