Not many breeds have been bred specifically for their crow and those that have were bred for long and lots of crowing not less crowing. Since it has not really been selected for you will find great variation in every breed. Even amongst the more quiet breeds there are loud individuals. It's luck of the draw. With the breeds I have overall my japanese bantams are the quietest and I frequently keep one or 2 in the room next to my bedroom without hearing them. A roo will be quiet over night if there is no light or commotion around the coop. They will crow at any noise though and remain active if there is any light.

Our Silkie and Sebright crow less than our OE's and EE's....
BUT It is more the temperment of the individual than the breed (IMO)
I have 3 silkie males-- the biggest white one rarely crows, the "middleman" size-wise crows the most.... and has the most "big man" attitude....

If they are "cooped" at night, they shouldn't be crowing till there is light....
