Crumbles vs. Pellets

I switched to pellets because there is far less waste with the pellets. If I have sour milk to give them, I use pellets mixed with flax, kelp, and other goodies to make a mash. They go for it the quickest.

I've discovered it's a mistake to mix a little scratch in with the crumbles, my banties are just flicking out the crumbles to get the bits of scratch. Keep "food" and "goodies" separate!

Great information! My girls definitely prefer crumbles... Is it just easier for them to eat? Are they lazy? I never noticed a waste with crumbles or pellets. I love the suggestion of mixing the powder with a moist treat! Thank you!

Our golden comets up front aren't wasting the crumbles, but well, that's banty attitude for you.

Pellets and crumbles cost the same, so it won't hurt to try pellets.

My chickens where wasting to much of the crumbles and a guy at the feed store told me to try pellets but the problem was that they would not eat the pellets tell i added some water to soften the pellets. So my next bag will be crumbles with some modification to my feeder to prevent them from wasting so much.
