Crushed shell for coop floor ok?

Hi everyone, first time poster. I am having a playhouse type coop delivered next weekend. The area where is it going is part of a patio with crushed shell. This is a very common material for patios, walkways and driveways here in Florida.
I'm wondering if I can leave it down or it would be best to have our sandy Florida soil as a substrate instead?

Will they be contained to their run most or all of the time? I guess potential bumblefoot was the first thing that popped into my head with continuous walking around really rough textured material like that (or at least it sounds like it'd be rough). I'd opt for the sand myself, unless the shell is crushed fairly fine...

I would think the crushed shell would be a bit hard on their feet. Our sandy soil, however is PERFECT for them, as they also like to dig holes and dust bathe, which keeps them clean and also helps them stay cool when it is hot out They couldn't do that in the crushed shell, and it wouldn't be as absorbant for the poop. Which they do a lot.
