Help please! I'm hoping someone on here can give me a remedy that doesn't involve anesthesia which is what Google is telling me. Apparently my Drake is showing signs of some kind of sinus infection? I searched for crusty build up around duck eyes and the only solution was to put him under anesthesia and then have his sinuses cleaned out or something to that effect. Have any of you had this issue before and what did you do? Is there anything I can put in his diet or do myself rather than take to some kind of vet. He is also sneezing a bit. Thank you ahead for any help!

For something like this, I would put my duck in a deep bath to encourage the duck to clean it's eyes and nares. I would rinse his eyes with saline 2-3 times a day. I tend to use a syringe for this, but make sure you don't blast their eyes with it. If this didn't show improvement in a week, I would use terramycin, an antibiotic ointment for eyes. Right now it doesn't look infected to me. It just looks like normal eye discharge has built up. This is common when they don't clean enough.

Does he have access to deep water to clean his eyes and nares? If not, this could be the issue, or he is one of those ducks that doesn't clean himself well.

Thank you so much! He had a large "trick or treat" bowl filled with water for a few days while I sorted out pools. (Had to separate him from the females because he was too aggressive. So I think during that time he wasn't washing fully. But I've given him a different pool and started treatment with antibiotic ointment. Looks to be getting better.

That is great to hear he is doing better!
