OK..sorry about the missing shots ..rear view

This is black all the way to the base..with nice green on most of the feathers..no violet

front of the male He is nice and wide

Here is a rear shot of 3 of my 6 month old 50% English x US pullets . The Brat, in the middle, lost her top tail feather when she offended one of her aunties.

I'm really working on combs as so many Buff Orps have really awful ones. Here's a shot of 2 of my old girls so you can see what I've been up to. Twisted, floppy, too many crowded points, as Walt has said . A challenge to fix those but you can see the improvement here in the next photo.

2 6 month old Monty pullets front left, and center, with the old girls behind. I hope you can see the difference here. A vast improvement on their mother's combs. Their brother was posted earlier.

Love the very dark eyes on these blacks. The deep and massive body is what I look for also.

delisha the photo in the snow really shows off the outline..

Thank you Vickie, love those lipid pool dark eyes LOL! It gives them nice expression..whoever worked on these birds in the past did such a nice job..I cant take much credit...they made everything easy for me to work with in my novice status... its going to be so interesting to see how those babys i sent to upstate turn out...there was a cockeral in that box that I had a hard time letting go..I knew right off he was going to be nice..cant wait to see him in couple months..

I just hatched 1 dior 2 more due sun..I see in the baby comb already nice space inbetween points..I didnt have to squint to see the points, they are not tall but very defined..going to be so interesting to watch these grow..fantasic program and fantastic choices..thanks for being an inspiration and teaching me so many things!

Danne Honour is widely considered the Dean of Buff poultry. He complied this great collection of hundreds of articles on breeding Buff Poultry.
Online here: http://www.aviculture-europe.nl/Buff-Coloration.pdf Danne Honour told me that this article was the best he had ever seen in descibing true Buff coloration. It's in this PDF and titled, "The Gospel of True Buff Color in Domestic Fowl. ", by W.H. Card (a noted poultryman and judge who was Danne Honours' uncle's uncle). Page 57 of 273.
viewing the entire page one at a time can be problematic. Click on the Minus sign in the grey window of the PDF file. That will reduce the size of the page and you can use the wheel on your mouse (or your "up" and "down" keys on your keyboard) to scroll thru the PDF

Table of Contents is on Page 268. Written in numerical order from Page 1 thru age 268.

Thanks so much for your kind comments. You can't beat reading and re-reading Danne Honour's articles on Buff color breeding. Every time I re-read those articles , I learn more.

When is everybody else going to post some more Orps ?
