hi, I posted about accidentally getting a feather legged Maran a few days ago (first photo) and someone guessed Cuckoo Cockerel. Here are some new photos. Does anyone know for sure? I think it's a pullet since I haven't seen much wattle growth. They are a month old today.

Also, It is much smaller than the other chicks from that farm store batch (Barred Rocks, Buff Orpingtons, Gooden Comets) and taking a long time to get feathers. It was chewing at its' chest and under a wing the last two days but seems to be recovering.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Very new to this. peace

Are we looking at 1 bird or 2?

The first one according to pattern is a pullet.. cockerels get a double dose of white barring.

Cuckoo Marans can also be feather legged.. that's just the French standard.. It is NOT a black copper.. that would be a black bird with copper hackles..

The red I see in the comb looks more like flushing than hormones.

ETA: it isn't hard to tell the difference between cuckoo, black copper, or other varieties.. once you are familiar with the breed.. these things are plain as the nose on ones' face. :)
