Cuckoo Maran Juvenile - Pullet or Cockerel?

Based on the lightness of the barring, I'd say he has to be a male. That being said, Marans are notorious for getting combs early. I can usually sex my Black Coppers at two weeks. Same with my old Cuckoo Marans. Going off just the comb I'd say, female. But it's more likely that he's just a slow-developing male.

Thanks for the confirmation! No feelings hurt on this one since it was my guess from the start. We mostly began second guessing because he is much less prone to engaging the other roosters in wrestling/chest bumping/play fighting.

Other cockerels may be the reason his "male-ness" seems to be inhibited. He's what is often referred to as a sneaky male.

I hadn't even thought of this! Of our 6-7 week olds we have three - now four - confirmed or suspected cockerels. The other three are very obvious and they challenge one another and have very glaring sex characteristics. It would make sense that he recognizes that he's better off lying low.
