I am trying to determine if possible if crossing my new cuckoo maran hens with one of my two Easter Egger Roosters will create an olive egger( or at least a more green egg).
I currently have 2 Roosters. Younger Rooster(hatched 5-2-22) is offspring of my EE hen and EE roo. They were purchased in July 2021 as Ameraucanas from McMurrays. After much reading especially on this site they are not Ameracuanas but Easter Eggers. My original plan when I thought they were Ameraucanas was that the pairing would create a olive egger that sex could be determined at hatch.
I am assuming my EE Roo has Atleast one blue gene as I also hatched 2 other chicks(5-2-22) from buff Orpington hens. They are laying a slight green tinted egg.

Attaching pictures of original EE Roo(pic 3 & 4) and EE hen(Pic 5 & 6)And young Roo(pic 1 & 2)
Any advise/opinions/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know the answer to your question, sorry, but I have a question of my own for you. What kind of comb is that on the red rooster in pic #3? I think he's quite handsome.

Im not sure either. The whole comb type thing keeps me confused

Yes.

I have a homebrewed OE who is the result of some unspecified Marans rooster x EE hen.

It took her 9 months to lay, but she finally produced some lovely, large, olive eggs.

It may or may not work though because you don't know if your EEs are homozygous or heterozygous for the blue eggs.

Best to pick the hens who lay the bluest eggs for the experiment. :)
