I just culled a sick hen and found these inside. I went inside and a magpie had grabbed one of the pieces, there were 4 originally. They are very hard and rubbery. what are they? Is there anything I could have done to make her better? THANKS!

I found them inside her after culling. She had been ill for a few days, not able to stand, and her toes were curling. I didn't think she was going to get better after 2 days isolated, not eating or drinking.

I've seen pictures folks have posted when their chickens have laid things that looked like that. I believe it's an egg - but gone horribly wrong. I can't remember what causes it.

Sorry, I meant where inside her? Just floating inside abdominal cavity, inside digestive or reproductive tract?

It definitely looks like something that shouldn't have been there that was calcified. Don't know what or why though.

looks like the product of internal laying. Ask Cynthia (speckledhen) for her input. Unfortunately she has had a TERRIBLE time and far too much experience with internal laying.

Internal layer. I've seen that many times in hens who have passed on. It's egg material and infection all cooked together in there.

This came out of one of my hens:
