Cup o' Joe and Tea Too

I made corn dogs for the first time a couple days ago. They were okay...tasted like a normal corn dog. However, I was inspired to try by Dairy Dan's. I will try again.

Have you been there, Penny? I have never liked corn dogs, not even at the fair, and never eat them. But, someone talked me into Dairy Dan's corn dogs and now I've had them twice. They are so good!

Where did you get the recipe ? I have done corn dogs a couple times
I looked one up online. Searched "best" corn dogs. LOL Do you have a great recipe for them? At Dairy Dan's they are kind of gritty and crunchy. Not too much, just enough to make them good.

This is mine, how close or different is yours ?
Corn Dogs

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 quart vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 (16 ounce) packages beef frankfurters
  • 16 wooden skewers

That's about the same. Back to the drawing board. Looking for that crunch. LOL

Oh, okay. The recipe I used called for 1 tsp of baking powder. I did recently buy baking powder. That could be it. Still, I'm going to keep investigating recipes.

Here's a great idea I got from the site I was on -- pizza corn dogs. It's a string cheese wrapped in pepperoni and dipped in the corn mix and then deep fried. Suggested serving is with marinara sauce. It looked really good. Might try it, but want to get the corn meal right first.

Thanks for the advice!
