Cup o' Joe and Tea Too

We had that same problem, someone planted a tree right next to the front door and it was causing problems. We put 2 in afterward, just further out in the yard.

I suppose people look at the little stick-looking treelings (is that a word?) and can't imagine how large they will get over time.

We do have 2 other trees in the back yard and there are a lot of big trees all around so we won't be without. And definitely more up there than around here...here there are cottonwoods along the river and a few pine trees. that's it.

Treelings, I like it! It can be a word. I suppose people look at the little stick-looking treelings (is that a word?) and can't imagine how large they will get over time.

Is the course in a high desert? Are you taking your flock to Casper? I bet they'd love to hang out under the trees! If so will you keep them in a run or let them out?

PS yes, I think treelings is a word!

We planted a living Christmas tree near our garage. As it grows, I'm wondering about the wisdom of that decision. It is a Noble, so it doesn't grow very fast, but it will indeed grow.

Yep, this area is considered high desert. It's dry and mainly scrubby stuff plus cactus around here.

I've checked the rules about chickens in Casper...it says I can have up to 6. Since I only have 5 girls, I'm planning on taking them with me. The detached garage is too small for our vehicles so DH is going to block off the back end of it for their coop (the front end will be his work shop) and the girls will have a nice run off that. Once we get the back fenced in, they'll be able to roam around the back yard. That will probably be a shock to the poor little dears.

That's so cool! Didn't realize your yard isn't fenced. That's one thing that's very different here in the west compared to the rest of the country. Everything is fenced or walled.

Yep. That's how it was in CA. So weird the first time I went to see DH parents in Illinois and their neighborhood had no fences. I was thinking, 'where's the privacy'? We don't have a fence around our property here, but our privacy is acreage, trees and shrubs. I think it would be very strange to BBQ in the backyard with a dozen of my neighbors BBQing in theirs at the same time.

Just goes to show you, we are a product of our environment in so many ways.
