Cup o' Joe and Tea Too

Good morning Debby and Ladies-Eight! Thanks for all the great coffee and tea!!

Love the wrap up dog. Isn't it usually a kitty that looks like that? :lau

Been a long one for me. Happy to wrap it up and get on to the weekend!

You should see Sunny when she chases rabbits! She ate half of a baby rabbit the other day and I had to rip the other half out of her mouth.
I was really surprised, she is well fed.
I have a munchkin kitty who loves to hunt, but of course cannot "catch" anything. So, he is a terrible nest invader and has come home with baby rabbits on a few occasions. Once I took the baby rabbit to the Audobon Society Nature Researve outside of Portland, a 1 1/2 hour drive, to save it. I gave them a generous donation for taking it in. They put it in an incubator and it died by the next morning. Turns out, kitty saliva is poisonous to rabbits. So, after that, I just put them down.

I don't allow Pipsqueak, the munchkin, to eat them either. It doesn't seem right to me. I'm sure he still gets them and just doesn't bring them home. And yes, he is fed very well. Fussy little eater, actually, who is often offered more than one food to accommodate the little bossy guy. We should have named him Napoleon. :lau

Love those photos, Rei! That one flying bird looks more like an owl than a chicken!!! My kitty hangs out at the chicken run too, but he is not allowed in. The few times he has followed me in, he hasn't attacked the chickens. He really just wants to hang out with them. But, I don't let him in anyway. You just never know. At least a free range chicken can get away. :D And yours look so happy!!!

I set 6 eggs today. I think all BO over LO, but we shall see. I'm sure an RIR is in the mix. I may even have a pure LO. Mad Hatter, the LO rooster, does get to mate from time to time and the LO's are his favorite girls. It's all one grand experiment after another around here.

I really need 3 more hens this year. Surly's first chick turned out to be Louie Louie. I don't know yet what these two new ones are, because they are only a couple weeks old. So, I figure I'll get 3 to hatch out of 6 eggs, and then hopefully out of the 5 chicks I'll get 3 hens. How's my chicken math? :lau

I rescued a bunch of squirrels from my brother , he had taken them from the neighbor cat. He was sick and not caring for them. The two that had been bitten died, but the third survived and I made quite a pet from her. She had a tiny collar and leash, took her to classes in University with me. She was afraid to jump on trees, but was happy climbing people.
