Cup o' Joe and Tea Too

Yes and no. I have my chosen rooster but there's another I'd like to keep. For now we're going to give it a go with 2 roos and 8 to 10 hens. I'm not hatching any eggs myself but if someone goes broody then that'll be ok.
I'm curious, are your roosters full grown, or are they cockerels still? Will you keep both in with the 8-10 hens in one pen all the time? Are they all together now?

I have 2 cockerels, 2 pullets and 8 hens that I would love to have all in one pen at some point. Just not sure if it will work out. I'm thinking I'll have to have two pens with 5 hens to a rooster when the time comes.
The roof is on the coop. 2 more boards to put on and it will be done! I am going back out in a few minutes to cut a pop door.

I currently have 4 older pullets that are almost a year old, a cockerel and pullet that are roughly six months and then 4 cockerels and 7 pullets that are almost 16 weeks. Everyone has the run of my yard from dawn to dusk, no pens. I have 2 coops and until today I had them all in one coop at night.

This weekend I gutted my big coop and made a lot of changes. There's no longer enough roost space to put everyine in there so we modified the mini coop with a roost and put a front on it. I'm moving the younger cockerel I want to keep along with 5 pullets to that. The rest will be in the big coop until the other 3 cockerels and a couple of pullets are processed for eating.

I take it your cockerels get along then, and not trying to mate pullets? I was having problems with that, so I had to separate them out from the girls and from each other.

They're in the beginning stages now. 3 of the youngsters are crowing and one of them tried to mate with the 6 month old pullet. All of the older girls are taken and won't have anything to do with them. They haven't taken on the older boy and they have no one to fight over as their hatchmates aren't laying yet.
