I've read that a lot of places with high heat could have more days in the extreme range now. Not good! It has made me consider not keeping chickens because I hate to see them suffer in the heat.

I give my chickens small wading pools, the size of baking pans or cat litter boxes when it gets hot. They like to cool off by wading.

I tried that with my flock in Florida and they wouldn't go near it

They did like it when I sprayed the run floor down (the floor was sand), they loved that!

Yup. I have a kiddie pool I'm going to put out after I cut some doorways in it. Need to get a new mister though.

Good morning everybody! Good to see all your happy faces this morning!

IM & Sean, I'm suddenly thankful for this cool, dreary morning. We will be having rain off and on for the next week, but we are back to our normal intermittent rain. I love that. Keeps everything green and cool. I would just like the chicken run to dry out a little more. About ready to give some baths to chickens!

They have to learn from others who know how. So I put one or two in, next thing everyone is using them.

I saw the first little peeper this morning!!!

A little buff orpington that must have been born yesterday. Surly is not moving so I have the sense that she has a couple more floppy babies under her. It's so sweet. Love how she talks to them.

It's supposed to start raining in the next couple hours then turn to snow tonight. We'll see!

Do you need rain up your way? Seems like we're always dry here (unless the white stuff counts ).
