Cup o' Joe and Tea Too

I looked on several sites yesterday and almost all are sold out till next year. Even hatching eggs.:hit

Don't forget to check the Buy-Sell-Trade forum here too! You might find something that interests you.

I sure hope you can find some chicks, Chickie. I've noticed there aren't many in our local feed stores, and there are usually a ton of them.

Are you connected with your state thread, or local area thread if you're not in the states? Maybe someone will have some hatching eggs near you.

I was looking for a certain breed. Large fowl Cochin. They must be popular because I can't find much and what I do find is pricey. Thank you all for your suggestions. I will keep up on the buy-sell-trade page and my state page.

How soon are you wanting them? Meyers just had Partrige and White Cochins available yesterday for May. I can keep my eye out for you as I'm on there daily anyway, haha. Hoping couple more breeds become available before mine ship!

Sometimes we have to doctor up the regular sausage too Penny, either with Italian seasoning or some hot spices. We just can't take the maple flavoring in some sausage.

I was getting ready to paint my coop but I got to thinking maybe I should spray it for any bugs just in case. What would you all do? If you did, what would you use?

It used to house chickens and its been sitting awhile. Just want to sanitize it the best I can.
Clorox is a good idea, and you probably have it on hand. I'm sure there are no mites in there since it has been vacant for so long, so you are talking about other types of bugs, I suppose. Personally, I use Pyrethrin, which is the organic version of Permethrin. I had to order it online since my local feed stores don't carry it.

But, I say all this with this disclaimer. I have used both clorox and pyrethrin on my coops from time to time as a preventative. I have not had to deal with mites or bugs, thank goodness. Just the occasional spider, and only when the chickens haven't spotted it first. So, my point is, I like to use organic sprays when possible, and I do add FGDE to the sand in the poop boards and under the pine shavings on the floor, but how do I know it works?
