Wait until you see the chaos in that incubator! Those chicks are everywhere. They will get out of the cupcake liners and make a mess doing it. And they will get in a liner with an unhatched egg.
The object of the liners, for me anyway, is to keep the unhached eggs from being rolled around and kicked from one end of the bator to the other. I think the little unhatched chick has spent so much time positioning himself to pip and then gets rolled around and has to do it all over again.
I had one who was half zipped, in the right position and he then turned to the small end and a foot was hanging out the zip! He sat there for 12 hours, too tired to start a new pip and zip process.
The liners are meant to have things not adhere to them, unlike a paper towel or coffee filter which absorbs liquid and are strong enough to hold batter.
I'm hatching on the 31st also! Good luck to you. I candled 2 days ago and have chicks growing in all 12!
