Has anyone ever used cupcake liners to hatch in?

Hmm you may have something. I think this could work well as it will absorb moisture quickly, which is good. I may experience with one someday, haha.

I thought about using cupcake papers and mentioned it in one of my questions about lockdown and no one said anything so I started thinking it was a bad idea. I am glad to read that I am not the only one thinking about using them. Lockdown is in 4 days so I think I am going to use them. This is my first hatch so I have nothing to compare it to. I will let you know in about 1 week.

You're about 4 days ahead of me! My hatch day is the 31st. I am going to use the cupcake papers too. They will hold batter without a tin and the coffee filters are too big and floppy. Good luck and I'll be watching for your pip & zip posts.

I'm also going to put the plastic shelf liner onto the plastic grated floor of the Brinsea. Those eggs were flying and spinning around on the plastic grate the last hatch.

this is my 1st hatch, due march 31st. i was gonna use the egg carton....but i wonder about the cupcake papers? the only thing that concerns me is that they won't be strong enough to keep other hatched chicks out.....i mean, could the hatched chicks still bump into the eggs and somehow roll them all around? if not, i'm gonna us the cupcake papers.

Wait until you see the chaos in that incubator! Those chicks are everywhere. They will get out of the cupcake liners and make a mess doing it. And they will get in a liner with an unhatched egg.
The object of the liners, for me anyway, is to keep the unhached eggs from being rolled around and kicked from one end of the bator to the other. I think the little unhatched chick has spent so much time positioning himself to pip and then gets rolled around and has to do it all over again.
I had one who was half zipped, in the right position and he then turned to the small end and a foot was hanging out the zip! He sat there for 12 hours, too tired to start a new pip and zip process.
The liners are meant to have things not adhere to them, unlike a paper towel or coffee filter which absorbs liquid and are strong enough to hold batter.
I'm hatching on the 31st also! Good luck to you. I candled 2 days ago and have chicks growing in all 12!
