Curious about age of Black Jersey Giant pullets.

So the guy I bought these from said they would start laying in a "a month or two." At the time I didn't know that Jersey Giants can develop more slowly than other breeds so I assumed they were already 3-4 months. So now I'm wondering if there'sa way to tell how old pullets are? They don't have their combs yet so I was wondering if anybody knew when the combs usually come in with Jersey Giants.

Anyways, here's a picture of Winnifred, the slightly bigger one.

There's also a chance that these aren't true Jersey Giants, since I got them a few days ago at a swap meet rather than a certified breeder, so I was wondering if anybody could also let me know their thoughts on that. I actually wouldn't mind too much if they turn out to be less than authentic, since if they actually get that big I might have to build them a whole new and bigger coop!
 
It has been my experience that you may not see eggs from those girls until nearly 1 year old. Mine were the absolute oldest layers before they started. They are slow growing, slow developing.
