curious about laying patterns

My hens are laying nicely and the eggs increased in size for a couple of weeks. All of a sudden I am getting small eggs from all 3 hens. I wonder if this is from a change in their needs or just normal variety in size. I will check right away on 16% protein feed. Any hints why this is happening. They are 5 months old.

Even at 18 + months, some of mine lay daily, skip a day or so and lay again. Largest eggs are after the break, and get a little smaller after several consecutive days of laying.
