Curious? Giant cochins?

That's kind of what I'd imagined the situation was. That's the size of bird I was tending toward as a second breed. Duane has some great birds! I'd imagine the hatchery birds would be very different, since no one is working from a standard at all.

I'm planning on working the Partridge Rocks I'm getting toward good barred size, they've not been as consistently bred for size and production like the Barreds but I love the color/pattern.

And for a second breed I really want a very large aka giant chicken like NJG or cochins. I had totally thought NJG until you feather heads infected me. Now I'm all dithering because I have really taken a liking to feather foots of all kinds and it's all y'alls fault.

Yes we will have some availible when ever you are ready, chickens and turkeys
Our turkey range roost is 12 feet square, about 3 feet off the ground we used 2x6's spaced 18 inches apart for roosts. and 4 x 4's for the corner posts. The roof is about 4 foot high in the front and sloping to about 3 in the back. On the back (low end) we put 4 nest boxes. It's worked very well, some of the turkeys sleep on the roof but most and the chickens use the roosts.

A 12x12 range roost? My lord, how many turkeys fit in one that size?

I plan on starting small, with a few, maybe a tom and two or three hens and a couple of nests and see how it goes.

They're totally new to me so they're my space alien project. I like the idea of free range turkey quite a bit.

I'll bug you in Jan about what colors of cochins you have about.

You have Bourbons, do you have Narragansets? I may be tending toward them because of Laura's preference.

Quite a few will fit, it's not even close to being full. We have Bourbon Reds, Midget White, White Holland, Royal Palm, Beltsville White and standard Bronze
