Curious with many questions

Thank you! As you can see, I am a total newbie, hence had no idea what pullet meant. I honestly had a hard time getting past the sex part of the name. As far as feed, the good part of living in a large city in New Hampshire is that the Agway is 8 minutes away, and sells everything for rabbits to horses, and the people there know all about every sort of farm animal.

Happy to help! I am by no means an expert, my girls are only 3 months old but you learn a lot by stalking this website and read, read, read! Everything you can get your hands on. I was reading so many books and websites my hubby grounded me from my phone!

Not to be rude, but I'll be blunt. The only way I would use this coop in your area is if it was inside a large, well sun-lit and ventilated shed. In cold weather, these little coops (and they are little - block out the dimensions with a line on your floor) are really only good indoors or under significant cover - like under a carport or in a garage or shed. They do NOT hold up through any amount of cold and snow - and in NH, I'll venture a guess that you get a good bit, right?
So, if you want this for your main coop, unless you want to put this inside a larger structure and build a real run for your chickens, save your money.
That said, this would make a good temporary starter/brooder coop until the weather breaks , and a decent infirmary/isolation coop afterwards. You will still need to reinforce and seal it, but it would get you started until you could build something more solid that would keep your little critters safe healthy through the Winter months and a wet Spring.

Are you talking about the Agway coop pictured below? Because it is made out of 2 x 4's, and has actual house roofing on it. The thing is solid. The first one I posted, not so much.

The first one. The Ag Science program at our local tech school purchased one like it, and its a piece of junk, even in Maryland winters. The Agway coop looks MUCH better!

Well, the deed is done. I paid for the coop today and ordered 3 pullets. We have until August 25 to prepare for the new arrivals!
I think you picked out a great coop. I wish our local store would have had something that nice when we were shopping. And I am sure if the Red Sexlink hens are as nice as my Golden Sexlink then you will be happy. Mine is very friendly and likes to eat out of my hand. She also lays HUGE eggs even though she is the youngest of my group.

Be sure to share pictures once you get everything set up :)

Yes, it is very well built by a local carpenter. Though it is twice as expensive as the other two I was looking at, I believe it will last way more than twice as long, so it is worth it in my opinion. Plus I want our new friends to be happy and safe :)
