I have a 1yr old broad breasted bronze tom and a 1 yr old royal palm hen. will they be able to breed? or do i need another tom? cause he's kind of a fatty.

If your breeding for pets, get another tom and breed for good looking turkeys (but don't breed away all the meat!). If your breeding for meat, get a broad-breasted hen and learn how to artificially inseminate. I've never done that myself, but there are books with instructions and pictures and everything. I bet you can find a BYCer who knows how, too.

Broad breasted toms cannot successfully breed a hen, their wide breast and widely spaced legs prohibit them from mounting the hen properly. They may try, but your hen is at risk of serious injury if he does. His weight may also break her wings. I'd get one of the heritage or standard toms. Look for a nice Royal palm tom and breed more RP's

my tom is for meat. my hen was a rescue. i don't really want to breed them. i want a white tom to breed with her.
