Curled Toes and Swollen (twisted?) Hock *Pics*

With mine, I found that once I fixed the leg problem, the toes straightened out on their own. But it might not matter which you address first. Either way I hope they do well!

it looks like a slipped tendon, if the joint feels flat it is out. gently squeeze it towards the center to put it back in, it may take a few times for it to stay. the longer it stays out the more damage to the hock joint and the less chance it will heal. i had a chick with both legs like this and she didn't make it.

I've gotten three chicks like this. The best thing to do honestly is kill them. I tried to save the first two like this and they just suffered. Couldn't get up enough to eat and drink properly.

Made the wife do the deed with the third..she's tough....

Thanks everyone. The foot has flattened out and he is hobbling around now which is an improvement he is eating and drinking now. He still won't extend his leg so I will try to see if it is the tendon.

Sadly, the second chick with curled toes began breathing rapidly and not eating and drinking and he died last night

I am really starting to think with the 1 chick that died and 4 other eggs that never hatched (not shipped). Maybe there is a genetic or vitamin deficiency issue to cause so many problems.
