Curly has been missing since 8/27 when he escaped from his aquarium. I was sitting having a cup of coffee at 5:15 this morning in the den, and the dog kept barking at the computer. I heard paper rustling and thought that there was NO WAY I was going looking back there myself! Off I go to wake the 16 year old daughter..Not a good thing to do on a school day when she still has an hour to sleep. We looked like the Keystone Cops trying to find the snake. My husband has boxes, papers, all sorts of things stored under and around his desk. We finally catch sight of curly's tail moving and my daughter said, "you grab him, he hasn't eaten in 3 weeks and I'm not touching him". We finally got hold of him and he is back in his tank. After school he will be fed and happy once again. We have added additional bricks on top as he is getting stronger the larger he grows. At least he's home again.

Glad he's back! -my son had two corn snakes when he was a child. His four foot blue corn, Saphire, escaped twice. We worried that she might not make it outside and would die in the house without food and water. Both times, she appeared at the foot of his door. I swear she KNEW where the food came from. The little baby red one -Ruby(of course) escaped once. I found her just outside the back door drinking from the cats' water dish. I caught her and returned her to her cage. Both snakes were eventually rehomed after he started college. Saphire went to a snake awareness program. She made a good ambassador as she was very gentle and an excellent size for handling. Ruby went to a little boy -like my son, who wanted a snake. His mom was planning to take an active roll in handling and feeding.

It was missing?? AND you SLEPT in there!????? Ohhhhhhhhh, no!! Not me!! I dont spook easily when it comes to snakes...however...LOOSE IN THE HOUSE!?? AHHHhhhhhhh!! I would have been in a motel untill there was PROOF it was found!

Glad you found the snake.

When I lived in an apartment with my DH 7 years ago (he wasn't my DH then..but that's another story) we had a little 2 foot python who escaped, twice. First time we found him curled up in the bathroom by the heater. Second time we didn't ever find him...

I know there are plenty of mice in that apartment building...so I'm just waiting to hear a news report of someone finding a six foot snake in their bed...

Angie, I can understand in Maine the snake looking for the heater, but here in So.Cal. if I don't turn my air on the inside of my house gets 95+ degrees. Pure heaven for the snake. He is about 5 feet long so I knew he couldn't stay hidden forever.

Congrats on finding your snake. Sneaky little boogers, lol.
Long time ago I had a 4 ft ball python got lost & found him inside the dryer on top of the drum.

It was the middle of the winter.

I've had so many critters get out on me at work...some of them gang up on you so that that just one can escape...
especially anoles and house geckos.
But I did manage to loose a $100 red iguana that had been in the same spot for a week. I thought he was dead and flipped over the hideaway and he jumped on that and when I went to grab him, he dropped his tail. Tail and I went one way and he went the other. Bugger...of course we were having a store visit with the suits too. :thun
One of the groomers found one of our Cornies or A Cornie outside by the trashbarrel, so I picked it up and got bit for my troubles.

Amen! lol. Im in Central Cali and it gets HOT in this house! But Its ok, I have 5 Corn Snakes and a Bearded Dragon that love it. It also helps when you want to hatch Beardy eggs, lol. I ask my mom to keep the air off so my snakes will be happy, but she doesnt listen to me,lol. I would rather my snakes be comfortable than myself! Congrats on finding him! I have my 4 smaller snakes in Kritter Keepers and Rubbermaids, but Chester, my oldest, is in a Terrarium and it has locks on it. My parents are very scared of them, and would freak if they got loose! Can we see pics of Curly?????
