Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

Apparently in "Hacksaw Ridge" your senses are assaulted in the first 10 minutes a la "Saving Private Ryan."

(Spoiler alert)

A lot of burning bodies.

In the movie "Fury," SPOILER ALERT!!! not only were there burning bodies but, also walking as they burned and then collapsed. That was the worst I have ever seen.

Is it horribly sad? If it's a tear-jerker I won't see it at the cinema, I'll wait until the dvd so I can blubber in private.

Is it horribly sad ? That's a hard one to answer. There's a lot of gore, inhumanity and death, but the story of this incredible man is so uplifting that it overshadows the bad. Honestly, there was one point where I thought that I might start crying, but nobody wants to see an old man cry.

Do a Google search on Desmond Doss prior to going to the movie - It's an inspiring life story.

Sour, in a dark theatre I don't think they could see an old man cry. IF they did, they would probably be crying themselves.

I haven't gone to see it because they mentioned burning bodies. I got enough of burning from "Fury," where the men were burning alive and dissolving into black ash as they walked. Still can see it and get nightmares. Crying is okay. Repeated nightmares are not.

Simple: You are Sourland. I am Drumstick Diva. You" dislike" those things in the movie. I am' terrified' of them.

I was a young child in school when the "Our Lady of the Angels," Chicago school fire took the lives of 90 something children and a few nuns- because some kid started a fire with oily rags in the stairwell. No smoke detectors in those days. I may be off somewhat on number of casualties but I'm sure google can lead anyone to the story. I think it was Dec.1957. The kids that survived had the most horrific burns. It was said years later that the name of the arsonist kid was not divulged because he wouldn't last a day if word got out.

I will admit that there were times when I averted my eyes from the screen.

As a kid I was tormented/terrorized by a demented sister. Horror movies are my weak point because I believe that such depravity exists.

Saw "Arrival," today. I thought it was well acted, interesting concept and then the ending. I hope someone else will see this movie and tell me what it was really about, and what did the ending mean? It felt like the director ran out of script and just told the cast to do whatever they wanted but, just END the movie. I didn't bother to ask my brother what his rating would be. I started out thinking it was 3 stars until the ending then wanted to just forget the whole episode.

Wish I had seen Dr.Strange instead and hopefully will see it next time. I would go in expecting "strange things," and a kind of Matrix effect (or not.)
