Took the kids to see Beauty and the Beast. Theater was packed... Kids loved it but IMHO way too much singing.

Today we saw "A United Kingdom". A story of an interracial marriage, the development of Botswana, and British treachery. Informative and well acted - 3.5 out of 4 on this movie.

Thank you Sour, if the theatres don't start having early showings, I may never get back to seeing one. Haven't seen anything since "Logan," almost tempted to go see it again.

Aha my brother and I got to see "LIFE," this morning. The critics were all pointing out it was a rip off of Alien. But they did admit it was more professional. Sure lots of special effects have come into being since then. Since neither of us had seen any of Alien and its others - we didn't have comparisons, we just really liked it. It was scary enough and good to see Jake acting like Jake and not the low life maniac he has been in more recent movies. Ryan Reynolds wanted to show my brother he isn't "Deadpool" all the time. Brother hated that moved, I really liked it.

LIFE was very good, my brother said 3.5 out of 4 stars, I gave it 4 stars. He is saving his top rating for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. I just create HIGHER ratings, when I feel like it.

All the actors gave good performances, except the "life form," if you've seen one life form, you've seen them all. AMC had dumped the LIFE movie into the tiniest theatre it had , I would love to see it beat Skull Island & Beauty, etc. But of course Life didn't have 3d or Imax expensive tickets so that wouldn't happen. The tiny theatre was pretty much full.
When I saw "tiny" I mean in the top row, it still looked like we were sitting right up against the screen. I hate that!

I went to see "Kong-Skull Island" today. I can't say it was disappointing because I didn't really have any expectations about it, but it lacked something. The pros: EXCELLENT special effects, sets, visuals. Really worth sitting through just for that. Cast was good (Tom Hiddlestone was quite good as an "action man" type). BUT it just lacked "soul" or "heart" or something. I really didn't care about any of the characters. They weren't even 2-dimensional, more like 1-dimensional. I'm not sure who they are aiming it at, young teenagers who want to watch monster fights? The monster fights are very good, if you are into that sort of thing, but I like a bit more of a story involving the characters to really like a movie. My benchmark when I like a movie is whether I want to see it again. (I really like it if I could sit through another showing the same day). I'm not bothered to see this again. I wouldn't recommend not to see it, the special effects, artwork and design are really worth it, but I wouldn't rush out to see it and get your own copy. I'd give it an 8/9 out of 10 for the visuals but only a 5 for the story/movie as a whole.

Against my better judgement we went to see "The Last Word" today.

It was quite good - 3.5 stars.

Today we saw "The Zookeeper's Wife". The true story of the Warsaw zoo, Jan and Antonina Zabinski and the 300 + Jews they saved during WW II. This is the best movie that we have seen in a while 4 stars for sure.

I wanted to see that Sour but, my brother thought the reviews were so-so. My grandfather lost most of his family to the Nazis.

dee dee, it's not a 'pretty' movie - very brutal in parts as might be expected, but it was riveting.
