Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

That's when we hope to go to see Endgame. I worry about getting advance tickets can't be sure my brother will be driving. It's an 11 mile round trip walking and don't think I can do that anymore.

End game is the movie that ties up Avengers : Infinity War.

I've been going to this AMC ever since they opened, used to be $ 3.50 for a ticket, then little by little to a lot more. First showings of the day before noon are still about $ 5.50 .Of course the only early showings are on weekends unless you see Imax(which really isn't). and a lot more money.

Finally saw Mary Poppins Returns. I was not expecting this movie to be good at all. I had so much love for the original as a child I thought it would only be a downhill slope. I was thankfully wrong. They went with an overall similar basis in look as far as the original which I loved. However... Whilst Mary was trying to teach the children to enjoy childhood and not grow up too fast there was an overwhelmed nihilism to the film. I did not like this. Moreover i did not like the idea of a villian in this movie. There was no villian in the original just good family fun. I feel that it distracted from the message. Also the song about not judging a book by its cover i felt to be supery inappropriate and should have removed the "g" rating from this picture. Overall decent movie songs were great but i do think they should have cast a better singer. In my years of choir i do not think emily blunt was very good but her acting the part was superb

I forgot to add that it felt very much like another old time movie ( which was a flop). I want to live Clarence...i want to live. But only because it added a villian

Thanks for the review!

Thanks ron for filling in. Finally going to see a movie this weekend. Son sent a movie card. My brother picked "Captain Marvel." My sister and her adult daughter really liked it. The times I have agreed with her judgement about 4 or 5 times in my lifetime. Likewise she hates most of what I like - so :idunno.

I see quite a few movies a year, while critic's reviews are okay I prefer the opinions of friends/family. This thread is not meant to be a critique but, a poster's personal opinion. PLEASE do not include spoilers and definitely no pornographic films. I think we will be fine if we just start with titles and ratings if known ie., PG, PG-13. R etc.

SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK (R) big thumbs UP
Excellent performances and cast. Saw it twice.

SIDE EFFECTS (R) thumbs UP
ditto.
Saw it twice.

WARM BODIES (PG-13) thumbs UP
Funny, sweet, NOT your usual zombie movie.
Hope to see it again - I smiled all the way home.

You are welcome to offer your opinions on these movies IF you have seen them, and please list any other movies.
I got "Venom" from Netflix it was Awesome

Sunday finally saw "Captain Marvel." My brother fell asleep during the first part which was very boring. I nudged him and said if he wanted to leave - so did I . He looked on his end, I looked at mine and too many people sitting on both sides of our row. Didn't want to walk in front of them and maybe stomp on their feet, so we stayed seated.

Turned out the last half of the movie was much better, there were two bonus scenes after the credits. My brother and I both rate it a 3.5 out of possible 4 rating.
