Has anyone seen Antebellum with Janelle Monae? I want to see it, but it's really expensive to rent on Amazon ($19.99).

Rotten tomatoes gives it a 28% from critics but it has an audience score of 59%. If you like horror movies, it might be worth watching but maybe wait until it is not considered a new release and the rental cost has gone down

That's too bad it gets such low ratings. I love Octavia Butler's Kindred (the novel on which Antebellum is based), so had high hopes. I just read the reviews and it really doesn't sound like it follows the book very closely or that it's worth paying $20 to rent.

Lol... that's a whole lot of spoiler alerts! My kids and I watched Enola Holmes this week, too, and loved it. We also struggle to find films and tv series with strong female protagonists. I didn't know that it was a book series, so will have to check that out. Hopefully there will be a sequel! Thanks for the review.

My 12 year old daughter and I are planning to watch Enola Hughes when she is done with school this afternoon! We are really looking forward to it, we love the actress she was also excellent in stranger things!

JANELLE MONAE was also very good in the movie "Hidden Figures," which focused on the importance of 3 Black Women during early space rush days. They could calculate faster than the computers of the day plus they were TOTALLY ACCURATE. The other topnotch actresses were Taraji Henson and Octavia Spensor.

Boy, do I wish they would come up with a safe, effective covid vaccination so I could go back to the movies with my brother. We saw some stellar movies and wish for more.
