Thanks Sour. I wanted to see the movie because of him but, nixed it because ' she' IS the same Elaine (from Seinfeld) in every part she plays and I couldn't stand her then.

I do want to see 12 Years A Slave if it EVER comes to our area. I did read it opened in only 19 outlets in USA and did very well so hopefully it will make it to wide release. I imagine I will not get to see Blue Caprice either , another on my list but, AMC hasn't shown trailers for either movie - so it's not likely

Saw Captian Phillips over the weekend. WOW. Very - VERY - good movie.
I did some googling this morning to see what I could find out about the guy who played the pirate captian. Nothing. I was beginning to think that he actually WAS a pirate when I discovered that this was his very first acting job. He's really a limo driver. (can you imagine having him driving you through terrible traffic and he says 'Don'worry. Everyting goin to be alright' ?!?!)

I've loved Tom Hanks since he was a "Bossum Buddy.'' I think some of his best movies were The Green Mile, Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Catch Me if You Can, Castaway - he had a run of some movies that made me cringe but, then redeemed himself with Captain Phillips. So I am in a happy place again.

Catch Me If You Can,(based on a true story) starred Leo DiCaprio as a brilliant criminal and Tom Hanks was doggedly pursuing him. I didn't realize till later in the movie that it was Tom Hanks, he just blended in so well as an OLDER person. Leo was outstanding. It may still be on rentals - probably several years old.

New Movie - 12 Years as a Slave -- Diva rating *** stars Diva's brother's rating**** stars . Very good movie - great performances from the leads. Graphic violence but toned down somewhat from the movie Prisoners. Speaking of which, a character from Prisoners popped up in '12 Years,' if you've seen that movie you should recognize him at once.

12 Years was very difficult to watch aside from the brutality, this is a movie people need to see for much the same reason they need to see movies about the Holocaust. This is truth. In both cases there are still those who deny the atrocities. Truth needs to be passed from one generation to another, else millions of victims died in vain.

Sour's rating *** - Princess' rating ****. For me a movie to be seen, but not great except for: Who the heck played the alcoholic, psychotic, red haired 'owner'? WOW!

Question, deedee, what did I miss in the scene where the 'owner' is holding hands with and carrying the little girl around? What was that all about? Please tell me it was not indicating another perversion.

Guess I should mention that the movie was "Twelve Years a Slave".
