Batty, the Butler is an awesome movie. Watch it immediately. Then watch it again. Very cool, and I really like the performances of the actors playing the presidents at various times, they did an outstanding job, even though they were just supporting roles. They really had some name actors in those roles.

True grit was pretty good, even though I've never been a huge fan of westerns. The newer one I mean, haven't seen the older one in ages.

I had a band I used to listen to nonstop in 1995 that I lost the cd and couldn't remember their name and only one verse of a song. I listed to so much music back then I can't remember them all Lol. Had a music geek start working here last year and I mentioned that one verse, 'we are the underground' and that it had heavy riffs. The next day he told me who it was 'Life of Agony' woohoo! We've only been online for about five yrs and I bet I Googled it 500 times a hundred different ways and nothing Lol!

That's great! Don't you love it when you can make a connection like that?

New movie 'Home' kids are insisting that we have to take them to see it this weekend. Hopefully it's good, the only new movies we get to see are kids ones :-(

Beer, check out a phone app called soundhound, or if you've got a Windows Phone, there's a similar function built in. You can hum a song to it and it will recognize it. Very cool.

I gotta check that out.

V, if I sang or hummed a tune to my phone, there would be silence and then hysterical laughter. I was the kid who was asked to 'mouth the words' in the church choir.

Diva, even though I'm new to this thread may I say that combining all the movie stuff together since the other thread is dead, would be very cool!

So, folks, let me date myself. The first movies I remember in theater as a child under 5 are Bambi and Song of the South. Then I remember Red baron type flicks, then Jimmy Dean and Bruce Lee. Most horrifying movie experience, Mom took me and my brother to theater. As we drove into parking lot, kid on a bike got hit by a car, lots of blood...the movie was Jaws. I hated it and still do!
Pick your brain movie: Remember when Turner Classic Movie Channel used to play old classic movies? Anyway, there was this one about an old black woman who worked for a lady and the lady loved her pancakes. The lady found her a place to make and sell pancakes- basically the Aunt Jamima story. What was the name of that one?
BTW no one can do justice to John Wayne in True Grit, I love all his Westerns!
Here are a few of my other faves: Fried Green Tomatoes, (and just about every other Jessica Tandy movies) Falling Down, lived in LA, totally get it. A Beautiful Mind, can see my son in it, he has similar issues. Master and Commander, The Super with Joe Pesci, Hidalgo, Woody Harelson, usually don't like bathroom humor but KingPin cracks me up even as I am disgusted with myself.
Best movie I saw in Imax in Holly Wood when released,The Last Emperor.
There's lots more but I think this is enough for now.

I think that may be it! I could only find two trailers, neither showing a pancake moment but Louise beavers looks like the right actress and I know I've seen that movie.

Thanks Batty. I loved "Fried Green Tomatoes," and "Beautiful Mind.", and "Hidalgo" - had a crush on Viggo Mortensen but the horse was fantastic. I think my first movie experience was "Hondo," with John Wayne, I was under 5.Think it was one of the first movies in color or maybe the first one with sound. I don't know. My dad dragged us to see it and I was just too young to appreciate what was going on.

The first movie I did love was "Lady and the Tramp," I cried because the other dogs had no home. - I remember my sister took me to see it. When I think I about it, Walt Disney liked to make kids cry: Bambi, Dumbo,, Old Yeller etc.

Her are the the movies that appeal to the sick part of my mind: Quills, Geoffrey Rush and Broke Back Mountain. (mostly the music score and I don't generally like country) These will make the guys cringe-sorry!
I like all the Disney Pirates of the Caribbean movies, well done and reference the ride well. Haunted house with Eddy Murphy- a farce, very disappointing.
